Your website not performing how you expect? These 10 tips will help you get your site performing.
1. Responsive (Mobile Friendly) Design
More websites are now viewed on mobile devices than desktop PC's. Therefore, it is essential your site adapts to the device it is being viewed on. A non-responsive site makes navigation extremely difficult meaning a user is very likely to give up and try elsewhere.
2. Social Media Links
Social Media is big news (and getting bigger). The chances are you interact with your clients/customers using one or more Social Media applications (if not, you should be). Links to your Social Media accounts makes it easy for users to access them.
3. Contact Details
Include your contact details on every page of your website. The truth is some users will only be visiting your site to get your contact information. If they are unable to find them within 2 clicks they are likely to go elsewhere. Include all the contact details you are available on (email, phone etc). Users can then decide which is best for them.
4. Simple Navigation
Users do not want to trawl through pages and pages to find what they require. They want to get to their required location within 3 clicks so keep your navigation structure as simple as possible.
5. Contact Form
Make it easy for potential customers to get in touch by including a Contact Form. This should be compiled to include all the basic information you require to answer and reply to all potential queries.
6. Avoid Clutter
Keep your content clear and concise. Get your point across in the least amount of words possible. Don't under estimate the effectiveness of white space.
Including (positive) customer testimonials will give users the confidence to trust your brand. Add these to your Home page for maximum impact.
8. About Us Page
Your About Us page should showcase all the things that are good about you and your business. It is your first opportunity to build that all important rapport with the user. Outline why they should give you their money instead of another company.
9. Load Speed
We are all impatient people when it comes to waiting for a website to load. Regardless of how good your site is, users will not hang about waiting for it to appear. Ensure your site loads within 2-3 seconds to avoid users aborting.
This may seem an obvious one but spelling mistakes seriously undermine the confidence of users in you & your service. Ensure everything on your site is spelt correctly.
